THE PLAN
Greetings Friends! Sunday, the elders announced plans to proceed with the fellowship hall expansion/office renovation project! This plan expands our fellowship hall by one and a half times - something that has been needed for a long time. The offices have not been renovated in over 20 years, and that will be a blessing as well. The project is expected to be finished about six months after it begins.
This will enable us to have fellowship/class times with room for everyone to be present, rather than spreading out all over the building.
This is an opportunity to grow, as it gives us space for special meetings and educational opportunities.
This gives space for others who use our building regularly, thus expanding our outreach into the community.
You may not think about the office space much, but the two church offices are the two most-used rooms in our building. Efficiency, reception of guests, study, and meeting space are all necessary items to keep everything moving! The office is a hub of this kind of activity.
THE COST
This kind of addition/expansion will require quite a financial commitment. The cost is projected at $350,000. Our previous renovation of the classroom space cost about that much, and we paid it off within a year. Financing is in place for this opportunity through the bank, and the initial stages of preparation are beginning. For this project, here’s what we need to know:
Each fifth Sunday, the entire contribution will go toward paying for this expansion. Our first “fifth Sunday” contribution is June 29th. Please think about how you can give in such a way as to help us have a great start on this project.
Funds collected on any Sunday over the budget will go toward paying for the expansion.
Special offerings are needed as we have the ability will go a long way toward paying off our debt.
THE PROCESS
During this time of construction, we will not have access to the fellowship hall/kitchen/offices. That means offices will be displaced, and your access to the building will be changing. We are considering how to make this work and will communicate with you regularly. The elders are committed to engaging in this exciting project without taking away from our important outreaches and current works, and missions. Still, anytime there is a growth opportunity, there will be growing pains! Let’s work together to minimize the struggles and maximize our outreach. This past Sunday, we had 140 in attendance. Increasing attendance is becoming more frequent, for which we give thanks! The work of the church must continue on!
THE PRAYER
Please bathe this entire process in prayer. As you may know, anytime a construction project begins, there are unexpected challenges and the potential for delays and changes. I encourage you to pray for our elders, for the leaders of the project, and for our church as we go through this time together.
God, thank you that the opportunity to grow is set before us. Thank you for new friends and new ways to reach out. Please bless our elders and give them wisdom and solid judgment about how to proceed forward. As they continue to shepherd our church, give them insights about how to best lead us toward the future. Bless all who are involved in this project, and keep all of our focus on the progress we can make in the Kingdom. As we improve the physical location of our church, please keep our focus on the expansion of the message of Jesus into this community. May all we do bring glory and honor to you, Father! In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray, asking your blessing and help, Amen.
The elders are open to hearing your questions and thoughts all along the way.
